BIA's McDivitt retires from federal service
FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 2003 After 35 years of federal service, Jim McDivitt, a Bureau of Indian Affairs deputy, is resigning effective today. McDivitt joined the BIA in 1995 after working for a variety of federal agencies, including the White House Office of Management and Budget. He was named BIA's deputy assistant secretary for management in 2000. In a statement issued yesterday, acting assistant secretary Aurene Martin said "Jim McDivitt has been a tremendous asset to the Bureau of Indian Affairs because of his experience as a federal manager and dedicated public servant." McDivitt's retirement is not related to the ongoing reorganization of the BIA, a spokesperson said. The retirement was in the works for quite some time, the spokesperson said. Related Stories:
