Mescalero Apache tribe expanding fire department

WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 2003

The Mescalero Apache Nation of New Mexico is expanding its fire department.

The tribe recently purchased a $209,000 fire truck and is working on building a main station. The facility, expected to cost $2.2 million, will employ 12 full-time and 10 paid on-call firefighters.
