Relocation option removed from Tar Creek report

A federal study on the Tar Creek Superfund site was excised of an endorsement to buy out landowners in northeastern Oklahoma.
A draft endorsed relocation but the final version does not. Rep. Brad Carson (D-Okla.) said there should be an investigation into the removal of the language.
The Tar Creek site contains 70 millions tons of mine waste. Most of the land is owned by Quapaw tribal members.
