First Nations in B.C. sue over education funds
TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 2003 Eight First Nations in Saskatchewan are suing the Canadian government over proposed changes in education funding. The government wants to take away money from bands with a higher number of post-secondary students and give it to "under equity" bands with less post-secondary students. This would violate a 1991 agreement that said the government would help the under equity bands by increasing federal funds. Get the Story:
