Janklow thought he was complying with law
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2003 Former South Dakota governor Bill Janklow (R) told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader that he doesn't care if the state makes public records of more than 2,000 people whose criminal sentences he pardoned or commuted. Janklow kept the information under seal but the state is now reviewing whether he followed the law. One of the last pardons he made before leaving office was for American Indian Movement activist Russell Means. Janklow now serves in the U.S. House of Representatives. Get the Story:
