Ariz. gaming initiative hangs on

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2002

Two gaming measures in Arizona were defeated at the polls on Tuesday with a third barely hanging on to victory.

Proposition 202 is backed by 17 tribes. They spent more than $20 million to authorize continued gaming at Indian casinos.

Proposition 200, an offering of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, was losing by a 5-to-1 margin, The Arizona Republic reported. Proposition 201 lost by 4-1.
