Kickapoo dispute goes to court

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2002

The chairman of the Kickapoo Tribe of Texas has agreed to work with his opponents on a possible transfer of power, The San Antonio Express-News reports.

Raul Garza is the target of an ouster campaign by a large segment of the tribal membership. He and associates are accused of financial mismanagement.

A federal judge is hearing the dispute. He may rule tomorrow on whether to force Garza's opponents from tribal buildings.
