Lumbee beauty case still unresolved

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2002

A Lumbee woman who won the North Carolina beauty title only to have it stripped from her is in arbitration with state pageant officials.

In the meantime, a state judge refused to recognize anyone as Miss North Carolina. Rebekah Revels contends she is the rightful winner but stepped down after a former boyfriend said he had revealing photos of her.

Due to the dispute, Revels was not allowed to participate in the Miss American pageant. But she and runner-up Misty Clymer continue to represent themselves as the state winner.
