Fla. tribe wins another Everglades suit
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2002 A federal appeals court reinstated a tribal lawsuit challenging the $7.8 billion Everglades cleanup. The Miccosukee Tribe asserts the plan was devised without enough public comment. A lawsuit was filed against several federal agencies and a federal advisory committee that developed the cleanup. A federal judge threw out the lawsuit but the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed. Although the committee has since disbanded, a three-judge panel said the case could proceed against the agencies.
