U.S. dismissed from Native Hawaiian case
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2002
A federal judge on Tuesday dismissed the U.S. government from a case challenging Native Hawaiian programs in Hawaii.
U.S. District Judge Susan Oki Mollway, however, is still allowing non-Native Hawaiians to sue the state for the programs. The plaintiffs want to shut down the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and a land program for Native Hawaiians.
