Chickasaw Nation won't built new capitol
THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 2002 Voters of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma have rejected a proposal to build a new tribal capitol. About 65 percent voted against a plan that was being pushed by Gov. Bill Anoatubby. Some questioned the wisdom of a new capitol, citing tribal revenue problems. The tribe's capitol remains in Tishomingo. Get the Story:
