Fires shut down Mesa Verde park
TUESDAY, JULY 30, 2002 Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado was closed on Monday in response to several wildfires. Fire has come within a few miles of the park's historic Puebloan structures but they were not directly threatened. The blaze has burned about 1,600 acres. The park two years ago was hit by fires which burned 21,000 acres. Get the Story:
