Projects bring Natives, state together
MONDAY, JULY 29, 2002 Alaska Natives and state biologists are working together to better understand fish runs in the Kuskokwim River. From fish counting to radio tagging, projects are giving Natives a voice in state management for the first time. The state controls subsistence fisheries on state lands. The Department of Interior is responsible for management on federal lands as required by the landmark Katie John subsistence rights decision. Get the Story:
