Conn. tribe pins hopes on casino
FRIDAY, JULY 19, 2002 The Golden Hill Paugussett Tribe has yet to gain federal recognition but is forging ahead with grand plans for a casino that it says will bring enormous riches to southern Connecticut. The tribe was denied status by former Assistant Secretary Ada Deer. Her decision was affirmed twice. Former Deputy Assistant Secretary Michael Anderson reopened the tribe's petition.
