Taxes of Oneida land questioned
WEDNESDAY, MAY 15, 2002 The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals this week heard oral arguments in a case affecting taxation of land owns by the Oneida Nation. The city of Sherill sayd the tribe should pay taxes like everyone else. But a federal judge said the land automatically becomes Indian Country because it lies with the tribe's original reservation.
