Haney opponents still locked in
THURSDAY, MAY 9, 2002 The Seminole Nation tribal office in Oklahoma is still being held by Ken Chambers and his supporters. Chambers was elected chief last fall but a Bureau of Indian Affairs court on Tuesday kicked him and numerous other officials out of office. A judge ordered control be handed over to Jerry Haney but Chambers and his administration say the court acted out of authority. The action affected the tribe's businesses, including the bingo hall and other establishments. A reported 600 people's jobs are suspended. Get the Story:
