Indian Affairs seeks applications for Tribal Tourism Grants

The following is the text of a June 29, 2026, news release from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

WASHINGTON — The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs announced today it is soliciting applications for $2.4 million in Tribal Tourism Grants to support tribes in expanding tourism visibility and driving increased visitation to tribal destinations.

“Tribal tourism offers a powerful opportunity for tribal nations to share their histories, cultures, and traditions while creating jobs and generating sustainable economic growth in their communities,” said Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Billy Kirkland. “Consistent with President Trump and Secretary Burgum’s commitment to growing the American economy and supporting locally driven development, these investments will help tribal communities capitalize on their unique cultural and natural assets by strengthening existing tourism operations, attracting more visitors, and expanding the benefits that tourism can bring to tribal communities.”

Grants, ranging in value from $200,000 to $300,000 each, will be awarded to 10 tribes or tribal organizations to facilitate, promote, and enhance tourism offerings. These efforts strengthen destination positioning, drive visitation, and support tribal participation in the tourism industry, contributing to sustainable economic growth and community benefits.

The Tribal Tourism Grant Program is administered by the Office of Indian Economic Development in support of the Native American Tourism and Improving Visitor Experience Act, or NATIVE Act.
