The House Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs is taking testimony on tribal lands and health legislation.

Four bills are on the agenda for the hearing on Wednesday morning. They follow:

H.R.411, the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Land Claim Settlement Act of 2025. The bill authorizes the federal government to pay $33.9 million to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community to settle the taking of lands from the tribe in Michigan during the 1800s and the 1900s. The money can be used by the tribe for any purpose, except for the acquisition of lands to be used for gaming purposes.

H.R.2916, a bill to authorize, ratify, and confirm the Agreement of Settlement and Compromise to Resolve the Akwesasne Mohawk Land Claim in the State of New York. The bill settles a land claim of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe by authorizing the return of 3,500 acres from New York to the tribe, along with anticipating the acquisition of another 14,000 acres from willing sellers.

H.R.3620, the Southcentral Foundation Land Transfer Act of 2025. The bill authorizes the transfer of about 3.4 acres in Anchorage, Alaska, to the Southcentral Foundation to provide health and social services programs for tribal communities.

H.R.3670, the IHS Provider Expansion Act. The bill amends the Indian Health Care Improvement Act to create a program for graduate medical education within the Indian Health Service.
