Patients are being welcomed to new $177 million Sage Memorial Hospital, a health facility located on the Arizona portion of the Navajo Nation.
The hospital celebrated completion of the 140,213 square-foot facility in Ganado on August 23. Since then, services have been opening in phases, with the emergency department and the outpatient clinic debuting this week following the awarding of a license from the Arizona Department of Health Service on Monday.
“Sage Memorial Hospital is the only tribal healthcare facility that is licensed under the state of Arizona,” Chief Executive Officer Melinda White said in a news release on Wednesday. “At SMH, patient safety and quality of care are our top priorities. Achieving hospital certification represents our commitment to planning and maintaining safe, high-quality patient care.”
