Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gives a shout-out to the Catawba Nation at a campaign rally in North Carolina on July 24, 2024.
According to Trump, Catawba Nation Chief Brian Harris was in attendance at the rally. The event took place in Charlotte, only about 35 miles from tribal headquarters in Rock Hill, in neighboring South Carolina.
“And Chief of the Catawba Nation, Brian Harris,” Trump said at Bojangles Coliseum as he thanked multiple people in attendance. “Brian. Where are you Brian?”
Trump further claimed the Catawba Nation has been “so supportive” though he did not explain exactly what he meant. But just last month, Trump’s son, Donald Jr., attended the opening of the tribe’s $700 million gaming facility in North Carolina.
“They’ve been so supportive,” the one-term former president said. “Thank you very much.”
Trump went on to bash Vice President Kamala Harris, who is now seeking the Democratic nomination for president following the withdrawal of President Joe Biden from the race.
“She’s worse than he is,” Trump said of Harris.
