Voters of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe re-elected their top two leaders last week.

Chairman Cedric Cromwell easily defeated challenger Aaron Tobey, Jr. in the February 12 election, according to the results. He will be serving his third, four-year term.

“I am honored to have been re-elected to finish what this administration has worked so hard to achieve. Our government has grown by leaps and bounds over the past several years, offering employment and a wide-range of services for our people,” Cromwell said in a press release.

Only four votes separated Vice Chairwoman Jessie “Little Doe” Baird and her closest challenger. But a recount reaffirmed her victory, the tribe said in a February 18 notice.

Also elected were Gordon Harris as treasurer, Ann Marie Askew as secretary and David Weeden as a council member.
