The Environmental Protection Agency announced nearly $30 million in grants to restore and protect Puget Sound in Washington.
A total of 11 tribes and tribal groups were awarded grants. They included $600,000 for the Suquamish Tribe to remove a culvert and $600,000 for the Nisqually Tribe for research.
The Puyallup Tribe was awarded $554,362 to reduce sediment and pollutants.
The Squaxin Island Tribe will receive a total of nearly $2 million to protect and enhance habitat.
