Sotomayor to hear first case on Supreme Court
Justice Sonia Sotomayor hears her first case as a member of the U.S. Supreme Court today.

Sotomayor and the other justices will hear Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, a campaign finance law case. The proceeding is unusual because it occurs outside of the court's normal term.

Otherwise, the court's upcoming term starts on Monday, October 5. There are currently no Indian law cases on the docket.

Sotomayor, the first Hispanic person to serve as justice, was confirmed by the Senate on August 6. She officially took her seat on the court yesterday.
