Buzz for Tanka Bar leads to sellout online

The Tanka Bar has been around for less than a week but it's already a hit, at least on the Internet.

Native American Natural Foods, the company that produces the bar, has sold out of the bars online. New orders will be shipped after October 22, The New York Times reports.

That's good news for Karlene Hunter and Mark Tilsen. The two Pine Ridge Reservation entrepreneurs created the buffalo and berry snack as a way to promote traditional Lakota culture.

"We want to show them that this is our original fast food," Hunter tells the Times.

The bar made its official debut at the He Sapa Wacipi Black Hills Pow Wow in Rapid City, South Dakota, over the weekend. The mayor declared Friday as Tanka Bar Day.
