Goshute Tribe passes law to restrict trespassing

The Confederated Tribe of the Goshute Reservation recently passed a law to restrict access to its reservation on the Utah-Nevada border.

Due to unlawful hunting and recreating, the tribe has imposed fines ranging from $100 to $5,000. Non-tribal members must have written permission to access non-open areas of the reservation.

The Skull Valley Band, which resides on a different reservation, says it won't be changing its laws because trespassing isn't a major issue, chairman Leon Bear said. The tribe already limits access by non-members.
