A firm owned by the Spirit Lake Nation of North Dakota won a $1.8 million contract to provide special materials to the military.
Sioux Manufacturing Corp. makes a heat shield tile used in missile launchers and on military equipment. The firm is the only U.S. manufacturer of the product.
SMC's offices were raided by federal agents in June as part an investigation into government contracts, the Associated Press reported. The firm's revenues recently topped $20 million, mainly due to work related to the war in Iraq.
