Father and young son killed in fire on First Nation

A 31-year-old man and his one-year-old son died when their mobile home on the Samson Cree Nation in Albert was destroyed by fire.

A woman noticed smoke coming from the home and was able to rescue two young children. When the fire was finally extinguished, the bodies of Robin Threefingers, 31, and son Jade were found inside. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

In related news, the Samson Cree Nation reached a deal with the province and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to increase law enforcement on the reserve. It is believed to be the first tripartite agreement of its kind.
