Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani said he supported the firing of controversial University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill.
Giuliani brought up Churchill during a speech he gave in Boulder. He called the professor's essay on the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks "horribly irresponsible," according to The Denver Post.
"The comments he made were very very damaging and very hurtful," Giuliani said, according to The Denver Rocky Mountain News.
A CU panel determined that the essay was protected by the First Amendment but the school will review claims that Churchill misrepresented his Indian heritage and plagiarized other works.
