Governor Stephen Roe Lewis of the Gila River Indian Community opened the Democratic presidential rally with Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in Glendale, Arizona, on August 9, 2024.
“I understand this may have been the largest crowd for a political rally in Arizona,” Chairman Terry Rambler said of the Harris-Walz event that took place on tribal homelands.
