BREAKING: Democracy Forward Statement on Rescinded OMB Memo
Yesterday, Democracy Forward Secured A Stay On The Office Of Management and Budget’s Freeze Of Federal Grants On Behalf Of Nonprofit Groups
Washington, DC — In light of the Office of Management and Budget rescinding its memo pausing all agency grants and loans, Skye Perryman, President and CEO of Democracy Forward released the following statement:
“Facing legal pressure from our clients and in the wake of a federal judge ruling in our case last evening, the Trump-Vance administration has abandoned OMB’s ordered federal funding freeze. We are proud of our courageous clients — who represent communities across the nation — for going to court to stop the administration’s unlawful actions.
“While we hope this will enable millions of people in communities across the country to breathe a sigh of relief, we condemn the Trump-Vance administration’s harmful and callous approach of unleashing chaos and harm on the American people. Our team will continue to bring swift legal actions to protect the American people and will use the legal process to ensure that federal funding is restored.”
This comes after the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia’s stay on OMB’s freeze of federal grants, which was in response to a suit filed by Democracy Forward on behalf of the National Council of Nonprofits, the American Public Health Association, Main Street Alliance, and SAGE.
