Democrat Sharice Davids, a citizen of the Ho-Chunk Nation, won re-election in the 3rd Congressional District of Kansas on November 6, 2024.
“This victory belongs to all of us. It reflects our commitment to looking past our differences and focusing on what unites us. Together, we’ll keep fighting for the issues that matter most to Kansans, making sure that every voice — from Kansas City to Kincaid — is heard in the halls of Congress," Davids said in a statement.
"It’s an honor to serve as your Representative, and I’m committed to delivering real results for our community, from lowering everyday costs to protecting reproductive freedoms. Thank you for your trust — our work continues!” Davids said.
Back in 2018, Davids was one of first two Native women elected to Congress. The other trailblazer was Deb Halaand from New Mexico, who has gone on to be the first Native person to serve as Secretary of the Interior.
Davids will now serve her fourth term in office. She declared victory alongside her mother Crystal Herriage.
The Republican candidate in the race was Prasanth Reddy.
