Democrat Jonathan Nez is waiting for all votes to be counted in Arizona's 2nd Congressional District.
Nez, a former president of the Navajo Nation, is trailing Republican incumbent Eli Crane by less than 18,000 votes, according to unofficial results from the Arizona Secretary of State. Some reservation ballots are still being counted.
"This campaign has always been about the voices of rural Arizonans. In order to respect every rural vote, every rural voice we are waiting for votes to be counted," Nez said on the afternoon of November 6, 2024.
Nez is seeking to be the first Native person from Arizona to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives.
