Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris discusses tribal sovereignty at a campaign rally in Wisconsin on October 17, 2024.
"I strongly believe that the relationship between tribal nations and the United States is sacred, and that we must honor tribal sovereignty, embrace trust and treaty obligations and ensure tribal self-determination," Harris said at the Resch Expo in Ashwaubenon.
"And as president, I will defend those principles," Harris continued.
Harris also thanked Shannon Holsey, the president of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians, who spoke at the campaign rally.
