Flanagan, who serves as Lt. Governor of Minnesota, shared a personal story at the event in Chicago, Illinois. Her brother, Ron Golden, was the second person in Tennessee to die from COVID-19 in 2020.
Flanagan, who is the highest-ranking Native woman in executive office in the United States, served as co-chair of the convention, which took place from August 19-22. The event was held in the United Center.
