The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe debuted its new gaming property in Minnesota by setting the Guinness World Record for the largest fry bread.
The fry bread, eight feet in diameter, weighed 150.2 pounds, according to the Cedar Lakes Casino Hotel. That was well over the prior record of 66 pounds, Guinness World Record adjudicator Mike Marcotte wrote on social media. Once the chile, lettuce and cheese toppings were added, the Indian taco tipped the scales at 350 pounds, The Bemidji Pioneer reported. More than 500 people were able to sample the finished product, grease and all, on Saturday."104 gallons of oil, for all of you that asked!" Cedar Lakes disclosed on social media. "LOTS Of OIL!" another post boasted. The tribe opened the casino on August 8. It replaces the old Palace Casino and Hotel, which was at a different location on the reservation. The $50 million facility was financed with the help of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. It features a 100-room hotel, an event/meeting space and three food and beverage options. The dough is proofed and is ready to get fried! @GWR pic.twitter.com/KqncCBs0AA
