Former leader of Winnebago Tribe sentenced in last of gaming theft cases

Casino
Travis Mallory, a former leader of of the Winnebago Tribe, has been sentenced to 3 years probation for his role in a gaming theft case.
Mallory who served on the tribal council, entered into a plea agreement on March 21. He admitted that he accepted funds from the WinnaVegas Casino Resort without proper authorization.
A total of nine former leaders -- including former
longtime chairman John Blackhawk -- were accused of taking part in the scheme. Seven pleaded guilty while charges were dismissed against two defendants.
The cases have been prosecuted in Nebraska, where tribal headquarters are located. WinnaVegas is on trust land in Iowa.
Mallory, who was sentenced on Wednesday, was the last defendant whose case was resolved.
