The latest issue of Casino City’s Indian Gaming Industry Report is out.
Tribes took in $31.5 billion at their facilities in calendar year 2016, according to the report. That represents a growth of 3.9 percent from the prior year. Economist Alan Meister, the author of the report, said "while we saw slightly slower growth year over year for Indian gaming on a nationwide basis, it outpaced other casino gaming segments as well as the economy. Both are good signs." "And the even faster growth of non-gaming revenue is impressive," Meister said on Wednesday. All are evidence of the continuing evolution of Indian gaming." California ranked highest in terms of gaming revenues, according to the report. Oklahoma and Florida followed. The National Indian Gaming Commission released figures for fiscal year 2017 in June. According to the agency, tribes took in $32.4 billion, an increase of 3.9 percent from the year prior.
