Tribal gaming revenues continue to grow in Arizona.
For the quarter ending June 30, 2018, tribes shared about $27.4 million with the state. That represents a 4.4 percent increase from the same quarter in 2017. “This is a strong start to fiscal year 2019,” Daniel Bergin, the director of the Arizona Department of Gaming, said in a press release. “This sixth consecutive quarter of growth is more evidence of our state’s healthy economy.” Under their Class III gaming compacts, tribes share between 1 percent to 8 percent of revenues with the state. The funds are used for schools, tourism, emergency services, wildlife conservation and local communities.
