The United Auburn Indian Community is putting the finishing touches on a $56 million expansion of its casino in California.
The Thunder Valley Casino Resort will feature a new 25,000 square-foot smoke-free gaming area with a bingo hall, a new high-limit slot machines room and a larger poker room, The Sacramento Bee reported. The tribe also completed the last three floors of its 17-story hotel and is upgrading more than 100 existing rooms. “This is what you can do when business is good. Business is good, and the economy is hot,” spokesperson Doug Elmets told The Bee. When the work is done, the casino will boast more than 3,400 slot machines, the paper said. A grand opening is expected April 1. Construction began in February 2016. The hotel has remained open throughout the project. The tribe's new Class III gaming compact just went into effect last week, according to a notice published in the Federal Register. Read More on the Story:
