The Nez Perce Tribe shared $409,000 in gaming revenues with schools and educational programs in Idaho.

Under a gaming initiative approved by voters in 2002, the tribe dedicates 5 percent of net revenues to education. The latest amount was the second highest on record, The Idaho Statesman reported.

"The tribe is thankful that we're getting out there," Treasurer Shannon Wheeler said at a grant distribution ceremony on Wednesday, the paper reported. "The net revenues are looking pretty good this year for the casino."

The tribe operates the Clearwater River Casino and Lodge in Lewiston and the It’se Ye Ye Casino in Kamiah.
