The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians is celebrating a casino construction milestone.
The tribe held a topping-off ceremony on Tuesday at its Four Winds Casino in South Bend, Indiana. The milestone comes just eight months after the tribe won approval of its land-into-trust application, the first ever in Indiana. "Setting this final steel beam in place signifies the completion of a major phase of construction," Chairman John Warren told Inside Indiana Business. The tribe expects to open the casino in early 2018. The $400 million development includes a 500-room hotel and housing for tribal citizens. The facility will put about 1,200 people to work. Job fairs will be held on July 22, August 5, September 9 and October 3 to fill positions, The South Bend Tribune reported. The tribe operates three casinos in Michigan under the Four Winds name.
