The Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma announced plans on Wednesday to build a casino in Bonner Springs, Kansas.
The tribe is asking the Bureau of Indian Affairs to take land into trust for the $225 million project, expected to create 2,000 jobs. The tribe will negotiate agreements with Bonner Springs and Wyandotte County. Kansas has four federally-recognized tribes, all of whom own casinos and have opposed attempts by tribes based outside the state to open casinos. Separately, the Delaware Tribe and the Delaware Nation, also based in Oklahoma, are pursuing a possible casino in Pennsylvania. Get the Story:
