The Cherokee Nation has become the second tribe in Oklahoma to announce the purchase of a race track.
The tribe is buying Will Rogers Downs for an undisclosed amount. The track was assessed by Rogers County at $2,859,842, The Thoroughbred Times reported. The tribe plans a $2 million renovation on the facility, which is one of three that will be allowed to offer electronic gaming machines if a state-tribal gaming compact is approved by the federal government.
