The Poarch Band of Creek Indians wants to negotiate a revenue-sharing compact with the state of Alabama.
Chairman Eddie Tullis says a deal would benefit the state and is better alternative than the "Bingo for Books" bill under consideration that would authorize video gaming at four dog tracks. The tribe is opposed to the bill, which is expected to generate $50 million to $70 million for school textbooks. The tribe already operates three casinos. Tullis is proposing to build a fourth, larger facility. Despite Tullis' offer, Gov. Bob Riley (R) said he is opposed to any expansion of gaming. Get the Story:
