The Forest County Potawatomi Tribe of Wisconsin announced plans for a $240 million casino expansion on Wednesday.
The tribe originally planned a $120 million expansion of its casino in Milwaukee but beefed up the project to add more gaming space and other amenities. The tribe also plans a $20 million expansion of another gaming facility. The announcement comes as the Wisconsin Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling today on the legality of new tribal-state gaming compacts. Republicans say deals signed by Gov. Jim Doyle (D) that allow for more hours and more games should be voided because the Legislature wasn't consulted. Separately, a racetrack filed a lawsuit claiming the compacts violate the state constitution. The tribe says its plans depend on a favorable resolution of both cases. Get the Story:
