The Oklahoma House has joined the Senate in repealing the tribal-state gaming compact act.
Large tribes, notably the Chickasaw, Cherokee and Choctaw nations, lobbied heavily to get SB 553 passed. They are now convinced they can get Oklahoma voters to legalize certain electronic casino machines for tribal casinos and three racetracks. The bill that repealed SB553 calls for a November 2 vote. Opponents of the compact say this provision may be illegal and are gathering signatures for an initiative petition. Get the Story:
