Two non-Indian gaming facilities in Rhode Island say they want their tax rate lowered if a tribal casino is approved.
Lincoln Park and Newport Grand are currently taxed 60 percent. The revenues go to the state. The Narragansett Tribe is proposing to share 25 percent of the first $400 million earned by the casino and up to 35 percent on amounts above that. The tribe and its partner, Harrah's Entertainment, say they will pay an extra $100 million over 10 years for the right to exclusive Class III gaming. Get the Story:
