Coyote Valley Pomos say compact talks ongoing

Monday, June 14, 2004

The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians says compact talks with the state of California are ongoing despite a harsh rebuke from the National Indian Gaming Commission.

NIGC chairman issued a Notice of Violation and Closure Order against the tribe's casino. He noted that the tribe doesn't have a compact and hasn't been negotiating one in "good faith."

The casino CEO issued a statement on Saturday rejecting the claim. Don Trimble said the tribe has met at least four times with the state to discuss a compact "on an expedited basis," The Ukiah Daily Journal reported.
