At least four members of the Committee to Protect Doņa Ana County represent racetracks. The president of the New Mexico State University Board of Regents, which has been promised money from a racetrack owner, is also part of the group. Jemez Pueblo has teamed up with an art dealer to acquire land in southern New Mexico for a casino.
