A New Mexico tribe seeking to establish the state's first off-reservation casino says the proposal is "win-win-win."
Jemez Pueblo has teamed with an art dealer to open a casino in Anthony. The proposed location is about 300 miles south of the tribe's reservation. The tribe says the casino would create 1,000 jobs. But opponents say an off-reservation casino would set a bad precedent in the state, where a dozen tribes operate gaming facilities on existing tribal lands. The southern New Mexico location would be near a non-Indian owned racetrack and two tribal casinos, including one in Texas. Get the Story:
